Information

The Loch Ness monster or "Nessie" as many would like to call it is an alleged creature living in the Loch Ness Lake in Scotland. The modern day sighting of this fabled beast began in the late 16th century but things really began to heat up in 1934 when Dr. Robert kenneth Wilson photographed a plesiosaur-like beast in the murky waters of the Ness. After that photo was published people flocked to the Ness to find the mythical creature. Experts examined the photo and some thought it was real many more thought it was a hoax, but the immagination of common people was captured and people came with money looking for the creature. People even used submarines to try and photograph the creature under the water. Today there is a full blown industry generating upwards of $40 million dollars annually for the local economy of Loch Ness, complete with submarine rides.

Even though many people think that this creatures existance is unlikely this is what the smithsonian institute in Washington has to say about it: "Even though most scientists believe the likelihood of a monster is small, they keep an open mind as scientists should and wait for concrete proof in the form of skeletal evidence or the actual capture of such a creature." "We suggest...that those individuals interested in such a phenomenon...join the International Society of Cryptozoology, a scientific organization that critically looks at issues involving unknown creatures of unexpected form and size, and subjects them to technical review."
